We are hopeful that serious negotiations by legislative Leaders on Senate Bill 1 are bringing us closer to a resolution on fair school funding. This is a sign of progress in the fight to bring equity and fairness to all students in Illinois and we hope these discussions continue.
However, the clock is ticking for schools who have already missed their first two state aid payments and for the Illinois House of Representatives to act on SB1. We continue to stand firm that our decades old funding formula needs to be fixed now.
We demand an agreement or override be reached before the 15 day deadline on Tuesday, August 29.
