Worried superintendents joined state officials at a forum Thursday night to discuss how a standoff in Springfield, Ill., over a funding plan could affect schools across the state.

“Tonight we’re standing here fighting for the bare minimum,” Staunton superintendent Dan Cox told about 200 people gathered in the Gillespie High School gym.
