“For us, this is not a Republican versus Democrat issue and not a downstate versus Chicago fight. The real enemy is the status quo — we have to correct the current unfair system,” said Mike Chamness, spokesman for the Illinois Association of School Administrators. “It would be a shame to get this close to closing the equity gap in our public schools only to revert back to a broken system because of a political fight.”
